7 Natural Remedies for Low Blood Pressure

Low blood pressure, or hypotension, means that the pressure of blood circulating around the body is lower than normal, or lower than expected. Although it is not as dangerous as hypertension, but it’s still an abnormal condition that may cause symptoms, such as dizziness, fainting, and blurred vision. Therefore, it should be treated before it is too late.

Usually, low blood pressure can be treated easily through natural ways. Below are some effective natural remedies that can help you to normalize and maintain an optimum blood pressure.

1. Salt

Salt is the most common home remedies for low blood pressure. Sodium in salt can raise blood pressure. Therefore, people who have low blood pressure are advised to increase salt intake in their food. Apart from including salt in the food, the patient can also mix the salt in a glass of water and drink it daily. This will provide relief from most of the symptoms of low blood pressure in just a few days of taking it. However, too much of salt is not good for the health, so it should be taken in moderation.

2. Water

Since dehydration is the main cause of low blood pressure. So, drinking lots of water could keep your body hydrated and thus increase your blood pressure. Be sure to avoid alcohol drink as it can causes dehydration and can lower your blood pressure.

3. Basil leaves

Basil leaves are an excellent natural remedy for low blood pressure. They are very effective in normalizing blood pressure. Pick about 15 basil leaves and crush them to extract its juice. Add 1 table spoon of honey to this juice and have it first thing in the morning.

4. Indian spikenard

Indian Spikenard is another great natural remedy for low blood pressure. Indian spikenard contains vital alkaloids and essential oils which have stimulant properties that are very effective in stabilizing blood pressure. Take about 15 to 20 grams of the herb and boil it with 250 ml of water. Let it cool down and have this concoction thrice a day. Alternatively, you can also have about 35 to 40 grams of Indian Spikenard, along with camphor and cinnamon.

5. Ginseng

Ginseng has long been used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat various diseases, including low blood pressure. A study has indicated that when given to people with low blood pressure, ginseng can raise blood pressure and strengthen heart. To treat low blood pressure, adding half teaspoonful of shredded ginseng root in 8 ounces of water. Steep the herb in boiling water for 20 minutes, and drink this concoction once or twice a day.

6. Almonds

Almonds is a rich source of potassium which are essential for maintaining normal blood pressure and heart function. Soak about 8 to 10 almonds in a bowl of water and leave it overnight. In the next morning, peel them and make a paste. Now add this paste to lukewarm milk and consume it warm.

7. Raisins

Soak about 30 raisins in a bowl filled with water and keep it overnight. In the next morning, chew them one by one on an empty stomach, and drink the water as well. This is also effective in stabilizing blood pressure.
