6 Simple Ways to Keep Your Teeth White and Healthy
Your teeth are covered with enamel that is naturally white, but with so many food substances passing through the teeth and due to the age factor, the teeth become discolored, turning yellow or even brown color.
Although there are many teeth whitening treatments available from the dentist, but these treatments do not permanently whiten teeth. If your teeth are exposed to foods and beverages that cause staining, you may see the whiteness start to fade in as little as two months after treatment.
The best way to keep your teeth white, bright and healthy is to develop good oral habits. Here are six proven methods for doing so.
1. Brush and floss your teeth regularly
Brushing and flossing are the best ways to remove plaque and prevent bacteria build up around the teeth and gums. It is recommended that you brush your teeth twice a day for at least two minutes, and floss at least once a day to remove plaque and excess food particles that your toothbrush may not reach.

Limit the consumption of sugary foods and drinks because eating too much sugar can lead to tooth decay. Acidic fruits, coffee, and tea can also wear down tooth enamel.
Although, it’s almost impossible to avoid these foods altogether but limiting where possible, and drinking water with your meals will help to wash away sugars and dilute acid in the mouth.
4. Avoid foods that stain teeth
If you want to keep your teeth white, then you should consider avoiding foods and drinks, such as coffee, tea, red wine, beets, berries, and chocolate, as they can stain your teeth.
But if you do eat them, rinse your mouth with water afterward or you can enjoy them with a straw so that the drinks did not contact with the most visible portions of your teeth.
5. Don’t smoke
Smoking is not only bad for your health, but the tar in tobacco smoke adheres to your teeth, leaving an unsightly stain. In addition, the tar makes cleaning more difficult, which allows plaque buildup, increasing the risk of gum disease.
