Turmeric is one of the most common spices which known to have many health benefits. A recent study showed that turmeric could help regenerate brain cells after stroke.
Turmeric is known to have a compound called curcumin, a pigment responsible for the yellow color of the turmeric. This spice is very popular in South Asian and Middle Eastern cooking.
In studies conducted by US researchers on animals (rabbits) found that a part of chemical compound in the turmeric can help regenerate brain cells after a stroke.
In the studies revealed, compound in turmeric does not attack clots. But these compounds can reduce the effects of motor deficit after a person suffered from a stroke as a problem of muscles and movement control.
Lapchak from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center said, CNB-001, a hybrid compound contained in turmeric able to cross the blood brain barrier, allowing blood distributed quickly to the brain and involved in an essential mechanism for neuronal survival.
The research results have been presented by Lapchak at the American Heart Association International Stroke Conference.
