How to Choose a Drug Rehabilitation Centre

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Health Tips

The task of choosing a drug rehabilitation centre for either yourself or a friend or loved one can be very difficult, as there are many different factors to consider from the type of treatments offered through to the cost and level of care provided.

You should take the time to do plenty of research on drug rehab centres both in your local area and also further afield, and arrange visits so that you can judge the facilities in person before you think about enrolling in any programs.

Medical Supervision
Drug and alcohol addiction has been well documented and follows some reasonably constant stages, and so it is very important that the sufferer is properly diagnosed by a professional specialist healthcare advisor in order to judge accurately what kind of treatment is required.

This will help you to understand what type of medical care you will need to be looking at in terms of drug rehab centre programs.  Some symptoms may have advanced to stages where round-the-clock monitoring and care is needed, whereas other less advanced cases may only require the sufferer to attend daily or weekly sessions with a counsellor or medical advisor.

Budget
Your health insurance may cover some of the costs towards treatment for drug and alcohol addiction that has been properly diagnosed by a healthcare professional, but in some cases you may well have to fund this type of care completely out of your own pocket, and so you will have to balance the level of care provided with bills that you can realistically afford.  Make sure you find out exactly what all of the costs will be for any rehabilitation program, which could include items such as bed and board, 24/7 monitoring, counselling sessions and group activities.

After Care
There is no way to completely cure drug and alcohol addiction, and this is a problem suffers will face throughout their lives so it is important to choose a drug rehab centre that offers good after care services, to help keep the sufferer on track and provide support into the future.

I live in the U.S. my younger brother who is around 52 years old is an alcholic. He used to be on drugs back in the 70s and 80s that’s when he lived with my mother in Calcutta. I had him rehabilitated and treated for drugs in Calcutta and then brought him to live with me in Bangalore. He has been drinking since the late 80s and has stolen money from me and when I am abroad he is taking care of my property, of course that is another story. I lost my own home due to his negligence entertaing bachelors and women in the house, when I found out I demolished the house and build apartments in stead. Of course he still lives with me in my apartment and takes care of paying bills etc. But he also has money which I send him for his upkeep and he squanders that on drinks, now it has gotten very extreme. Please help me by advising what I can do for him. How can I go about having him committed and treated – I believe he wants to stop but cannot. I am very tired and very distressed over this, please do help me.
    Thank you,
    Audrey
