Medical negligence can be a disaster for anyone who suffers from it but the increase in suits against doctors claiming medical negligence has had unexpected effects.

There has been a steady rise in the number of compensation claim against doctors in the last decade. Doctors who deliver babies are the hardest hit. Because of the nature of giving birth there is a higher risk for problems then with less complicated procedures.

Many doctors have given up delivering babies at all because of the risks involved. This is a shame because it means that many expectant mothers do not get their own family doctor or baby doctor to deliver because of worries of a medical negligence claim.
