Acne is a skin condition that is common among adolescents and adults. Many factors can contribute to the development of acne, including the habit of eating junk foods.
Although it is not scientifically proven that junk foods can cause acne, but foods that are high in sugar content have been associated with the development of acne.
Acne is usually formed due to hormonal changes in adolescent or women during the menstrual cycle. Acne also can be formed due to excess production of sebum (oil) or buildup of bacteria on the skin.
A Study conducted by Danby FW at the Dartmouth Medical School, Manchester, found that foods contain high sugar levels can trigger overproduction of serum and insulin, which may disrupt your hormones and lead to the formation of acne.
How to Prevent the Formation of Acne
To prevent acne, fill your diet with foods that contain a lot of vitamins and minerals, such as carrots as they rich in vitamin A, which helps reduce excess sebum production, red meats as they are rich in zinc, which control the oil gland activity, and whole grains as they contain various vitamin B, which help reduce stress – a cause of acne.
The other easy way to prevent the formation of acne is too wash your face every day. Make sure to use warm water as the warmth on your skin helps in opening up your pores, letting the water to eliminate any bacteria that may stay inside the pores.
Also, try to avoid touching your face with unwashed hands because your hands may become a den of bacteria and germs, which can transfer them to your face and trigger the formation of acne.
